About me: I have a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Critical Thinking from Queen's University. For the last 6 years I have been a free-lance tutor and editor, and also part-time lecturer at SFU, teaching essay writing courses in applied health ethics for health sciences majors. I have training in teaching English as an additional language (ESL) and was certified as an ESL instructor at Vancouver Community College. I am an enthusiastic, supportive, and thorough tutor.
I love writing and have articles and two poetry books published by Toronto presses.
Experience: I have high standards and have been successful in helping students to improve their skills in critical thinking and writing. In 2012 I was given by students the Faculty of Health Sciences 2011-2012 Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
Further, I enjoy working with people of all ages and have tutored high school students and children. Some of my high school students have won full entrance scholarships at universities, such as at U of Toronto.
